Job summary

Save the Children US is seeking an Assistant Cook to support Head Start and Early Head Start meals. You will assist in ordering, preparing, serving, and documenting meals, following CACFP/USDA standards and menus while maintaining safety and cleanliness in kitchen and transport duties as needed.

You will help manage inventory, assist with CACFP documentation, and deliver meals to satellite sites. The role requires reliability, teamwork, and strong English communication in a child-centered

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of related experience in a food service environment.
• Demonstrated teamwork and customer service orientation.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Strong organizational skills and time management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals following CACFP/USDA standards.
• Assist in ordering, inventory, and meal documentation.
• Transport meals to satellite Head Start program sites when needed.
• Collaborate with Head Cook and staff to ensure meals meet dietary needs.
• Maintain health and safety standards, and cleanliness in kitchen and transport areas.
