Job summary

Save the Children is seeking an Assistant Cook to support meal preparation, serving and documentation for Head Start programs. You will follow USDA/CACFP standards, assist with inventory and delivery to satellite sites, and help maintain a clean, compliant kitchen environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to dietary needs, safety compliance and collaboration with the Head Start team. A valid driver’s license and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of related food service experience.
• Ability to work in a team and provide good customer service.
• Proficiency in English (spoken and written).
• Valid driver's license; 21+ years of age may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, serve and document meals and snacks per CACFP/USDA standards.
• Assist with inventory, ordering, and meal transport to satellite sites.
• Ensure food safety, hygiene, and proper food temperatures during deliveries.
• Attend required meetings and maintain CACFP documentation.
• Support Head Cook and supervise volunteers if needed.
