Job summary

Save the Children US is hiring an Assistant Cook/Food Transporter to support Head Start meal service. You will assist in ordering, preparing, serving and documenting meals, and safely transport them to satellite sites, following CACFP/USDA and Head Start standards.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least two years' food service experience, strong English communication, teamwork, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least two years of related experience.
• Demonstrated experience working in a food service environment.
• Proven teamwork and successful customer service orientation.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Demonstrated organizational skills, self-management of time and overall cleanliness.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels, both internal and external.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, serves and documents meals and snacks adhering to CACFP/USDA and Head Start standards.
• Oversees kitchen operations and may supervise volunteers.
• Maintains inventory and assists with ordering and transportation of meals to satellite sites.
• Ensures health and safety standards in kitchen and during deliveries.
• Attends required program meetings and nutrition meetings.
• Receives and inspects deliveries and maintains related documentation.
• Contributes to cost control and compliant food service operations.
