Job summary

Save the Children is seeking an Assistant Cook/Food Transporter to assist in ordering, preparing, serving and documenting meals for children in Head Start and Early Head Start programs. The role emphasizes inventory control, safety, and adherence to health and food safety codes while supporting kitchen operations and meal deliveries to satellite sites.

The position requires a high school diploma, 2+ years in food service, strong English skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of related food service experience.
• Demonstrated teamwork and customer service orientation.
• Professional proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Strong organizational skills and time management.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals following CACFP/USDA and Head Start standards.
• Assist with kitchen operations and inventory management.
• Transport meals to satellite Head Start sites with safety and compliance.
• Ensure health and safety standards and food temperatures during delivery and service.
• Attend meetings and support cost-effective food service operations.
• Record deliveries and maintain proper documentation daily.
