Job summary

Vaco is seeking an Assistant Controller to join its growing team in Raleigh, NC. The role is highly visible and hands-on, overseeing key accounting operations, the close process, and financial reporting while driving process improvements across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership experience, and the ability to operate in a dynamic environment, with 6+ years of progressive accounting and SaaS industry experience. CPA preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility (public accounting and industry preferred).
• Experience within SaaS, software industry.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timely, accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide insights to finance leadership.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, management reporting packages, and analyses.
• Support technical accounting research, documentation, and implementation of accounting guidance.
• Partner with leadership on revenue recognition matters and complex accounting transactions.
• Develop, document, and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Collaborate with operations to support reporting needs and strategic initiatives.
• Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff and promote continuous improvement.
• Participate in ERP enhancements, system implementations, and process transformations.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
