Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is actively seeking a hands-on Controller to oversee daily accounting operations, drive monthly closes, and deliver timely financial insights to senior leaders. This leadership role requires strong technical accounting expertise, team management, and a service-oriented mindset.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in accounting/finance with leadership experience, a solid grasp of U.S. GAAP, and exceptional Excel and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; CPA strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience with 1–2 years in leadership.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience overseeing broad accounting ops including cash management, fixed assets, audits, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent Excel, analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to lead a team while hands-on.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations: AP/AR, GL, cash management, billing, collections.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Prepare and present financial reporting packages to senior leadership.
• Manage cash activity, banking relationships, investments, and working capital.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, regulatory reporting, and external documentation.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures.
• Oversee fixed assets, construction-in-progress, depreciation, inventory accounting, capitalization.
• Review revenue and expense allocations for accurate GAAP treatment.
• Lead and mentor accounting staff while remaining hands-on.
• Support strategic projects, process improvements, and system enhancements.
