Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience with technical accounting and consolidated reporting.
• CPA certification is mandatory; Big 4 or public accounting experience preferred.
• Demonstrated expertise with NetSuite ERP system and strong Excel modeling for budgets and forecasts.
• Solid knowledge of ASC 606, leases, and stock compensation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a finance team including Senior Accountant and various specialists.
• Ensure integrity of financial records and reporting to VP Finance and CEO.
• Partner with executive leadership on strategic planning and financial analysis.
• Oversee revenue recognition and accounting policies across SaaS operations.

Exciting Opportunity: Assistant Controller / Controller – SaaS Innovator in Sunnyvale

Join a dynamic SaaS startup poised for growth! We are seeking a seasoned Assistant Controller or Controller to lead the company's financial operations, ensure the integrity of its financial records, and partner closely with executive leadership. This pivotal role offers a chance to make a significant impact within a vibrant, fast-paced environment with approximately 90 employees, where your expertise will drive strategic financial planning, technical accounting, and team mentorship.

Key Highlights:

• Location: Sunnyvale, CA – Thursdays onsite, with a possibility of an additional day as needed
• Start Date: Next week (preferably 9/22)
• Duration: 3-4 months, with potential for extension and full-time conversion
• Collaboration: Direct reporting to the VP of Finance, working alongside the CEO and other VPs
• Team Mentorship: Lead and develop a team including a Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounts Receivable Specialist, and Payroll Coordinator

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• 12+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a solid background in technical accounting and consolidated reporting
• CPA certification is mandatory; Big 4 or public accounting experience highly preferred
• Demonstrated expertise with NetSuite ERP system
• Advanced Excel modeling skills for budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis
• Strong knowledge of revenue recognition standards (ASC 606), leases, stock compensation
• Excellent communication skills, capable of partnering effectively with executive leadership
• Leadership experience managing and mentoring finance teams

Nice to Have:

• International accounting and tax experience
• Familiarity with SaaS metrics and billing portals
