Job summary

DeWinter Group is partnering with a fast-growing EV startup to recruit an Assistant Controller (Path to Controller). This role will own the accounting foundation and build processes from the ground up, with succession planning to move into the Controller seat as the current Controller transitions to strategic finance.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong GL and month-end close skills, and a systems-curious mindset comfortable with AI/automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a solid GL and month-end close.
• Experience with ERP implementations and automation
• Comfort with SQL/Python and data workflows

Responsibilities

• Close ownership of monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes including GL, reconciliations, JEs, and financial reporting.
• Drive audit readiness for first formal audit and implement scalable internal controls.
• Co-lead ERP implementation; work with AI and automation tools to streamline the close process.
• Partner with Finance, Operations, Sales and executive leadership.
