Job summary

Ever, a fast-growing electric vehicle retailer, seeks an experienced Assistant Controller in San Francisco (Hybrid) to own the monthly close, ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting, and drive internal controls. You will partner with the Controller and cross-functional teams to build scalable processes.

This role combines technical accounting with system automation, mentoring staff, and leading audits. A CPA or active candidate, and 5+ years in accounting, is preferred; experience with ERP

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Experience supporting external audits.
• CPA certification or active CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks Online.
• Experience with SQL, Python, or data automation tools is a plus.
• Automotive, dealership, retail, or inventory accounting experience is a plus.
• High-growth startup/ technology company background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and COA.
• Prepare, review, and approve journal entries and reconciliations.
• Ensure balance sheet accuracy and audit readiness.
• Support technical accounting and financial reporting under US GAAP.
• Drive process automation and system improvements.
