Job summary

UG2 LLC in Boston, MA is seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead and manage the building engineering team. You will ensure uptime, oversee preventive maintenance, supervise staff, and coordinate with contractors to keep critical infrastructure running safely and cost-effectively.

The role emphasizes reliability-based maintenance, QA/QC processes, and continuous improvement of building systems. On-site leadership with strong safety and regulatory focus is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional education.
• 1-year certificate from college or technical school or five to seven years related experience.
• Universal CFC.
• Technical degree in HVAC or five or more years of related experience.
• Active Refrigeration Technician's license highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitors operation and maintains HVAC and related equipment across building systems.
• Oversees repair and preventive maintenance programs.
• Manages inventory and purchasing for tools and supplies.
• Oversees contractors and coordinates activities.
• Identifies safety hazards and administers safety training.
• Ensures regulatory compliance and documents building infrastructure.
• Supervises engineers and maintenance staff; hires and trains.
• Keeps QA/QC processes and facilitates assessments.
• Emphasizes preventive maintenance over corrective actions.
• Supports staff schedule changes and design standards.
• Provides training to expand operations staff capabilities.
• Keeps abreast of safety/code changes.
• Inputs work orders and supports project material lists.
• Responds to emergencies and conducts general housekeeping.
• Completes work per SOPs and work instructions.
