Job summary

UG2, based in Boston, seeks an Assistant Chief Engineer to lead the engineering team in maintaining and improving building systems for 100% uptime. You will oversee HVAC, mechanical, and electrical operations, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and manage contractors and staff.

This role emphasizes reliability-based maintenance, asset protection, and continuous improvement of mechanical uptime while coordinating with clients and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in a related field.
• One-year certificate or 5–7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
• HVAC technical degree or equivalent experience is required or preferred.
• Active Refrigeration Technician license is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain refrigeration, HVAC and related mechanical and electrical systems.
• Oversee preventive maintenance and scheduling for HVAC equipment and plant rooms.
• Manage inventory of tools and supplies; process purchase requests and stock materials.
• Supervise building engineers and maintenance staff; hire and develop talent.
• Ensure safety training, regulatory compliance, and incident reporting.
• Coordinate with contractors and tenants; protect asset value and uptime.
• Maintain infrastructure documentation and building drawings; support QA/QC.
• Respond to emergencies, perform troubleshooting, and perform/execute repairs.
