Job summary

Urban Outfitters is seeking an Assistant Buyer to support the Buying team by planning product purchases, studying fashion trends, managing samples, and reporting accurately. This role helps curate a customer-oriented product mix to achieve business goals and act as a liaison for internal teams and vendors.

The role requires a fashion or merchandising mindset with at least one year in a clerical or retail setting, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to manage details,

Qualifications

• Fashion or merchandising degree or equivalent experience.
• 1 year of experience in a clerical or retail role is preferred.
• Demonstrate understanding of target customer and ability to select appropriate product/trend.
• Analytical understanding of IMU%, MD%, GM%, selloffs and OTB.
• Strong communication with teams, vendors and suppliers.
• Proactive time management to meet deadlines.
• Detail-oriented with accountability and ownership.
• Commitment to inclusivity and URBN values.

Responsibilities

• Product assortment: determine mix using data-backed insights and regional/demographic differences.
• Fashion and trend awareness: monitor trends from fashion shows, publications and social media.
• Sample management: handle samples, organize and log photos, weekly handovers to merchandising/photography teams.
• Data management & reporting: update assortment sheets, use Island Pacific for order accuracy and basic analyses.
• Collaboration: build relationships with cross-functional teams and vendors; participate in meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
