URBN Urban Outfitters, Inc. in Philadelphia is seeking an Assistant Buyer to support the Buying team by planning product purchases, studying fashion trends, managing samples, and reporting accurately.

They help curate a customer-oriented product mix to achieve business goals and act as a liaison for internal teams and vendors. They determine quantities, price points, and product mix to ensure inventory meets customer demand and sales goals.

Qualifications

• Fashion or merchandising degree or equivalent experience.
• 1 year of clerical or retail experience preferred.
• Knowledge of target customer and ability to select appealing products.
• Familiarity with retail data concepts (IMU%, GM%, WOS, OTB).
• Strong communication with teams and vendors.
• Diligence in time management and detail orientation.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Product Mix: Support the Buyer in determining the mix of market and private label products using data-backed insights.
• Assist in utilizing customer feedback and market trends to drive growth and profitability.
• Help tailor assortments based on regional and demographic differences.
• Stay updated on fashion trends and styles, contributing to product selection with a strong sense of style.
• Manage department samples, including obtaining samples from vendors and organizing them by classification and season.
• Update and maintain assortment sheets; use Island Pacific software for order accuracy and basic analyses.
• Build trust and professional relationships with peers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Attend cross-functional meetings and support on-time, on-budget orders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
