Job summary

URBN is seeking an Assistant Buyer to support the Buying team with planning product purchases, studying trends, managing samples, and reporting accurately. This role helps curate a customer-focused product mix to meet business goals and liaises with vendors and internal teams.

You will analyze data to determine quantities and price points, maintain assortment sheets, and work closely with merchandising, planning, and operations to ensure on-time deliveries and optimal inventory.

Qualifications

• Fashion or merchandising degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
• 1 year of clerical or retail experience is preferred.
• Understanding of target customer and ability to select products/trends.
• Comfort with basic business analytics (IMU%, MD%, GM%, selloff, WOS, OTB).
• Strong communication with teams, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
• Good time management to meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and ownership of outcomes.
• Commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Product Mix: support the Buyer in determining the mix of market and private label products using data-backed insights.
• Fashion and Trend Awareness: stay updated on fashion trends and styles to contribute to product selection.
• Sample Management: manage department samples, organize them by classification and season.
• Data Management & Reporting: update assortment sheets and use Island Pacific for order accuracy and analyses.
• Collaboration: build relationships with peers, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
• Other Duties: perform other duties as assigned.
