Float Assistant Branch Manager

As a Float Assistant Branch Manager, you will work under the leadership of the AVP – Regional Branch Officer and Branch Officer to provide direction to and oversight of assigned Member Experience team members and serve as a resource for all branch functions and services. You will welcome members and non-members and perform various transactions accurately and efficiently. You will adhere to Credit Union policies and procedures to ensure ethical and compliant business practices, build member relationships through education about products and services, support team members by assisting with challenging member questions and providing appropriate account overrides, manage cash inventory and conduct timely branch audits, manage a branch location in the absence of the Branch Officer, and float between any of our 8 locations to assist with coverage as needed.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • Manage cash levels and perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly branch audits, including cashboxes, vault, ATMs, and TCRs.
  • Greet members and provide relevant information regarding transactions, products, and services. Fulfill member service requests, including account opening, access services, maintenance, domestic wires, loan applications, and funding with authorized signing authority. Adhere to all branch processes, procedures, policies, and compliance regulations.
  • Perform transactions of increased complexity, including IRA, business, and fiduciary account opening, initiate domestic and international wires, and take applications and close on home equity loans and lines of credit. Provide notary and medallion signature guarantee.
  • Deescalate challenging member situations by problem‑solving and exercising sound judgment and decision‑making skills while demonstrating a special effort to say yes.
  • Provide appropriate overrides within Credit Union guidelines and limits. Serve as a role model and train all new Member Experience team members within the branch location.
  • Perform individual settlement procedures, balance MSR or teller cash drawer and daily transactions, and assist with or independently perform branch balancing.
  • Actively engage in the relationship‑building process through educating and referring Credit Union products and services.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to learning and thoroughly understanding all Credit Union deposit and loan products and services.
  • Remain vigilant and aware of surroundings, report any unusual or suspicious behaviors, activity, or inconsistencies.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience

Three years of related experience is required; previous supervisory experience preferred.

Education

Associate’s degree required or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proper National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) credentials are required or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Interpersonal Skills

Position requires a significant amount of personal contact with others inside and outside the Credit Union, thus requiring a high degree of confidentiality, discretion, diplomacy, and tact in communication. Build relationships and foster positive interactions with Credit Union team members, members, and vendors by demonstrating friendly, helpful, and efficient service. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, including a positive tone, clear explanation of financial concepts, managing difficult conversations, and skillfully diffusing upset members. Patience, active listening, and sound judgment are required. Ability to motivate and influence the actions of others. Must be able to understand and communicate products, services, and regulations.

Other Skills

Proficient Microsoft Office skills and the ability to learn the core system and other related software are required. Must have the ability to apply cognitive reasoning to daily tasks, take ownership, and work independently and as part of a collaborative team. Must be highly motivated, detail‑oriented, organized, and efficient. Must be able to work in a professional, fast‑paced environment without sacrificing the quality and accuracy of work performed. This position requires standing, sitting, walking, reaching, and lifting to 30 lbs. regularly.
