Job summary

Apple Bank for Savings in Bronx, NY seeks an experienced assistant branch manager to oversee daily branch operations, coach staff, and ensure compliance with banking regulations. You will drive sales, handle customer service excellence, and manage risk while supporting the Branch Manager in staffing, reporting, and policy adherence.

Strong leadership, communication, and a solid foundation in Microsoft Office and banking software are required; weekend availability and notary eligibility preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree and 3-5 years of assistant branch management or comparable banking experience required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of operations experience, preferably in banking.
• Excellent customer service/sales skills.
• Excellent working knowledge of branch operations and banking regulations
• Effective problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to maintain composure when interacting with customers and staff.
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal + written).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and must have experience using banking software experience.
• Demonstrated comfort level with technology, mobile services and online banking services is a plus.
• Proven ability to stay current and comply with industry regulations.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
• Qualify to be licensed as a Notary Public for New York State.
• Mandatory training may require occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee branch operations and staff per bank policies.
• Provide coaching on sales techniques and product knowledge.
• Supervise staff on service standards and conduct performance appraisals.
• Identify operational risks and implement controls; mitigate losses.
• Ensure compliance functions, audits, and security procedures.
• Cross-train on branch roles to provide coverage.
• Assist in staffing decisions and hiring.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly branch reports.
• Notarize legal documents for bank customers.
• Meet sales goals via branch business development.
