Job summary

Macy's, Inc. is seeking an Asset Protection Detective to protect company assets, reduce shortages, and maintain a safe shopping environment.

You will use surveillance, investigative tools, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement to identify theft and respond effectively. In this role, you will help protect customers and colleagues, recover merchandise, and support investigations and legal proceedings.

Qualifications

• Ability to observe, identify, and respond to suspicious activity in a retail environment.
• Strong communication skills with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
• Ability to use sound judgment and de-escalation tools to maintain a safe environment.
• Ability to handle proprietary, confidential information with discretion and integrity.
• For jobs in New York, a current New York State Security Guard License is required.

Responsibilities

• Use surveillance techniques and reporting systems to identify theft and shortage trends.
• Partner with Asset Protection leaders, store teams, and law enforcement on investigations.
• Apply de-escalation tools and sound judgment to maintain a safe environment for customers and colleagues.
• Prepare clear documentation and evidence to support investigations and legal proceedings.
• Train colleagues on asset protection protocols to reduce shortages.
