Job summary

Macy's is seeking an Asset Protection Detective to protect assets, reduce shortage, and maintain a safe, customer-focused shopping environment. Using surveillance, investigative tools, and partnerships with store teams and law enforcement, you will identify and respond to theft and help protect customers, colleagues, and merchandise.

Full-time colleagues typically work 30+ hours per week with weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to observe and respond to suspicious activity in a retail setting.
• Strong communication with customers, colleagues, leaders, and law enforcement.
• Use de-escalation tools and sound judgment to maintain a safe environment.
• Handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Identify theft and shortage trends using surveillance and reporting systems.
• Partner with store teams and law enforcement to support investigations.
• Prepare clear documentation and evidence for investigations and legal proceedings.
• Provide training to colleagues on asset protection protocols.
• Respond to alarm calls and assist in safety and first aid when needed.
