Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, inventory management, stocking and paperwork. This role develops an external candidate for a future Store Manager position and is held for a limited period.

The position requires leadership, merchandising, cash handling, and strong customer service, with prior retail leadership and grocery experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Two or more years of experience in a leadership or managerial position.
• Two or more years of experience in a retail grocery store strongly preferred.
• Ability to recruit, interview, hire, counsel and terminate with proper compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising and inventory management.
• Follows prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Operates store in store manager’s absence.
• Reviews operating statements for business trends and expense control.
