Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and handling store needs. This role serves as a development path for future Store Manager responsibilities and is for a limited period.

The position emphasizes adherence to company policies, cash controls, and providing excellent customer service while supporting open and closing procedures and daily store operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposit controls.
• Ability to read and interpret operation manuals and safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking and pricing.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide customer service leadership.
• Adhere to company policies and security procedures.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends, expenses and inventory turn.
• Complete all required paperwork and documentation.
