Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, paperwork and store operations. The role focuses on developing an external candidate for future Store Manager responsibilities and will be for a limited period.

Key duties include staffing, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling and following company procedures. Travel to Dollar General stores may be required; a focus on customer service and compliance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Competencies: aligns motives with company values; communicates effectively; fosters teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, stocking and pricing of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages, markdowns, scans, paperwork and controls.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Work in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
