Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in supervising staff, merchandising, inventory, and store operations. The role focuses on developing external candidates for the Store Manager path, for a limited period.

The candidate will assist with recruiting, inventory controls, cash handling, and store security while maintaining a customer-first approach and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and deposits.
• Ability to interpret diagrams, safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and pricing per manager directions.
• Help with inventory management, damages, markdowns and paperwork.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in handbook and SOP.
• Participate in opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
