Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in leading store operations, staffing, inventory, and merchandising. The role supports developing external candidates for future Store Manager positions and is for a limited period.

Key duties include recruiting, inventory control, cash handling, and ensuring a safe, well-stocked store with strong customer service. Prior leadership in retail preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 2+ years of leadership/managerial experience preferred.
• 2+ years of retail grocery store experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.
• Proficient in interpersonal, oral, and written communication.
• Proficient in organization skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to solve problems and deal with varied situations.

Responsibilities

• Assists in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assists with store merchandising and staging, stocking, and pricing of merchandise.
• Assists in all aspects of inventory management and conducts inventories.
• Monitors in-stock targets and follows ordering practices.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Follows company procedures and policies.
• Participates in store opening/closing activities.
• Ensures secure handling of company funds and cashier accountability.
• Maintains clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operates store in the manager's absence.
• Reviews operating statements for business trends and opportunities.
• Completes paperwork and documentation on time.
