Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate in Danville, VA supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and receiving. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruitment, merchandising, inventory controls, ordering, cashier accountability, and store operations while upholding company policies and ensuring a safe shopping environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions, including those necessary to generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by facilitating and/or participating in staging, stocking and storage of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management, prepare and conduct inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure the safe deposit of all company funds in the designated bank.
• Assist in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
