Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, oversees staff, inventory, stocking and paperwork, and develops external candidates for the Store Manager role. This position fosters interactive development and is held for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, cash handling, opening/closing duties, and ensuring a safe, well-stocked store. Some travel to other stores may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• Experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff while ensuring compliance with policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and proper pricing and presentation of merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management, including damages, markdowns, and stock control.
• Follow ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Open and close store operations.
• Maintain cash controls and security procedures.
• Ensure a safe, well-stocked store environment.
• Travel to other Dollar General stores as needed.
