Job summary

SMX is seeking a Project & Revenue Accounting SME to ensure accurate revenue recognition and support a robust month- and quarter-end close. You will apply ASC 606, GAAP, and contract-specific methodologies while partnering with Finance, Contracts, and Operations.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in project accounting and revenue recognition, strong Excel and Costpoint skills, and proven cross-functional collaboration in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of current, consecutive experience in project accounting and revenue recognition.
• Expert knowledge of ASC 606 and GAAP, FAR, in regulated environments.
• Experience supporting DCAA and DCMA audits.
• Hands-on with Deltek Costpoint (Costpoint 8.2.2026.3 or current).
• Recent experience with Cognos.
• Able to interpret revenue recognition across CPFF, CPAF, T&M, FFP, and Commercial contracts.
• Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Independent, fast-paced work style, with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for project and revenue accounting and guide issue resolution.
• Ensure ASC 606 revenue recognition across contracts and policies.
• Provide advanced Costpoint support and troubleshoot revenue-related issues.
• Collaborate with BU Finance Leads, Program Managers, Contracts, and Accounting.
• Lead month- and quarter-end close activities, including unbilled revenue reviews.
• Research complex revenue issues and maintain audit readiness.
• Develop detailed analyses to identify trends, risks, and corrective actions.
• Monitor revenue controls and strengthen the accounting environment.
• Support DCAA/DCMA audits and external financial reviews.
• Act as trusted advisor to Finance and Operations.
