Job summary

SMX is seeking a Project & Revenue Accounting SME to ensure accurate revenue recognition and a smooth month/quarter close. You will serve as a technical resource for ASC 606, GAAP, and Costpoint within a regulated environment, partnering across Finance, Contracts, and Operations.

The ideal candidate has deep project accounting and revenue recognition experience, excels in Excel, and can independently analyze complex issues while driving reporting improvements and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of consecutive project accounting and revenue recognition experience.
• Expert ASC 606 knowledge, GAAP, FAR in regulated environments.
• Experience supporting DCAA and DCMA audits.
• Hands-on Costpoint and Cognos experience with strong Excel skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for project and revenue accounting and guide issue resolution.
• Ensure ASC 606-based revenue recognition and timely close.
• Provide advanced Costpoint support including revenue formulas and configurations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Contracts, Operations to ensure proper revenue reporting.
• Lead month- and quarter-end close activities including unbilled revenue reviews.
• Research unbilled/revenue issues, maintain audit readiness and documentation.
• Deliver detailed analyses on trends, risks, and corrective actions.
• Interpret contracts across CPFF, CPAF, T&M, FFP, Commercial contracts.
• Monitor controls and identify gaps to strengthen revenue accounting.
• Support audits and reporting related to revenue timing and ASC 606 compliance.
