Job summary

SMX is seeking a Project & Revenue Accounting SME to join our Finance team. The role reports to the Senior Director, Finance and drives accurate revenue recognition and a strong month- and quarter-end close process.

You will apply ASC 606, GAAP and contract terms across CPFF, CPAF, T&M, and FFP contracts while partnering with Finance, Contracts, and Operations. The ideal candidate has deep experience in project accounting and revenue recognition, advanced Excel skills, and hands-on Costpoint

Qualifications

• 6+ years of current, consecutive experience in project accounting and revenue recognition.
• Expert knowledge of ASC 606 and strong working knowledge of GAAP and related regulations.
• Experience supporting DCAA and DCMA audits.
• Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (current version preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert for project and revenue accounting and provide guidance across the organization.
• Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and timely per ASC 606, GAAP, and contract terms.
• Provide advanced Costpoint support including revenue formulas and configurations.
• Collaborate with Finance, Contracts, Operations to ensure proper revenue recognition and reporting.
• Lead month- and quarter-end close activities, including unbilled revenue reviews and revenue at risk analyses.
• Develop detailed financial analyses to identify trends, risks, and corrective actions.
• Interpret contracts and apply revenue recognition methodologies across CPFF, CPAF, T&M, FFP, and Commercial contracts.
• Monitor controls and support audits, maintaining documentation for compliance.
