Job summary

SMX is seeking a Project & Revenue Accounting SME to join the Finance team. The role reports to the Senior Director, Finance and serves as a subject matter expert for project and revenue accounting, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and timely close processes.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in project accounting and ASC 606 within regulated environments, with advanced Excel and Costpoint skills, and the ability to collaborate across Finance, Contracts, and Operations.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of current, consecutive experience in project accounting and revenue recognition.
• Expert knowledge of ASC 606 and GAAP, with experience in regulated environments.
• Demonstrated experience supporting DCAA and DCMA audits.
• Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint (preferably Costpoint 8.2.2026.3).
• Recent experience with Cognos.
• Advanced Excel skills for large data analyses and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a subject matter expert for project and revenue accounting and provide technical guidance across the organization.
• Ensure revenue is recognized accurately and timely per ASC 606 and contract terms.
• Provide advanced support and troubleshooting for Costpoint and revenue-related system issues.
• Partner with Finance, Contracts, Operations to ensure proper revenue recognition and reporting.
• Lead month- and quarter-end close activities, including unbilled revenue reviews and revenue timing analyses.
• Research and resolve complex unbilled and revenue-related issues with strong audit readiness.
