Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a 3D scanning technician to operate handheld scanners on varied projects, process data with Artec Studio, and deliver accurate meshes and reports. You will work on active sites, travel to hubs, and support reverse-engineering efforts with scan-to-CAD deliverables.

The role requires hands-on scanning experience, CAD literacy, and a valid driver's license, with training sponsored for industry certifications. Compensation is per hour with potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a handheld structured-light or laser scanner on real projects.
• Working knowledge of Artec Studio or similar scan-processing software; mesh cleanup and registration.
• Familiarity with reading structural or fabrication drawings; CAD literacy.
• Ability to work on active construction sites and industrial plants; able to lift/carry equipment and travel.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute handheld 3D scans of rebar and embeds before concrete placement.
• Control drift on large objects using reference features and measurement backbones.
• Verify capture completeness on site before leaving.
• Process scans in Artec Studio: registration, fusion, mesh cleanup, texture, and export to STL/OBJ/E57/CAD.
• Produce deviation maps, reports, and anchor bolt coordinates against drawings or CAD.
• Build scan-to-CAD solids (STEP/IGES) or hand-clean meshes for modeling teams.
• Document capture procedures, equipment settings, and chain of custody on forensic matters.
• Coordinate access, permits, and safety with site contacts; travel as assigned.
