Job summary

Westhab is seeking a Safety Security Officer in the Bronx to ensure the safety of clients, staff and the homeless shelter property. The role covers 24-hour operations, with relief shifts and mandated overtime, reporting to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager.

The position requires a NYS Security Guard License, an 8-Hour Annual Certificate, and a preference for CPI certification. Strong communication and the ability to work flexible shifts are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• NYS Security Guard License and 8-Hour Annual Certificate required.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred (F02).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must work flexible shifts, weekends and overtime if necessary.

Responsibilities

• Inspect client rooms daily.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Screen entrants with magnetometer/x-ray to prevent weapons.
• Perform Crisis Intervention and document results.
• Conduct hourly rounds throughout the facility.
• Respond to incidents and coordinate with responders.
