Job summary

Westhab Inc. is seeking a full-time Safety Security Officer at a homeless shelter in The Bronx, NY. The role ensures the safety and security of clients, staff, and property, reporting to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required and CPI certification is preferred. Responsibilities include monitoring entrances, responding to incidents, conducting rounds, assisting with client intakes, and maintaining documentation and logs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior security experience required.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and 8 Hour Annual Certificate.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of client rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Monitor client behavior and maintain rapport with excellent customer service.
• Control access at the main entrance by screening clients and visitors.
• Respond to incidents and de-escalate potential crises.
• Make rounds throughout the facility and monitor safety.
• Assist with client intakes and maintain property.
• Complete logs and incident reports.
• Coordinate with police/fire departments as directed.
• Perform administrative duties at the operations desk and monitor CCTV.
