Job summary

Westhab in The Bronx is seeking a Safety Security Officer to ensure safety and security of clients, staff, and property at our homeless shelter. The role reports to Shift Supervisor and Security Manager; COVID vaccination proof required.

The position demands flexible shifts, weekend/overtime as needed, and compliance with facility policies. The ideal candidate holds NYS Security Guard License and CPI certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and prior security experience.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and current 8 Hour Annual Certificate.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of clients' rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments and monitor behavior.
• Control access at the main entrance using magnetometer/x-ray screening.
• Respond to incidents and make hourly rounds.
• Maintain logs, incident reports and documentation.
