Job summary

Westhab Inc. in the Bronx, NY is seeking a Safety Security Officer for the evening shift in a homeless shelter. You will ensure safety and security for clients, staff, and property, report to the Security Manager, and maintain logs and documentation.

Proof of vaccination is required and the role reports to the Shift Supervisor. Role requires a NYS Security Guard License, an 8 Hour Annual Certificate, and a Fire Guard License for Shelters, with CPI certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• NYS Security Guard License and an 8 Hour Annual Certificate are required.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections of clients’ rooms.
• Escort clients to appointments as needed.
• Monitor client behavior and enforce policy with good customer service.
• Control main entrance access and screen visitors using magnetometer/x-ray.
• Make hourly rounds throughout the facility.
• Respond to incidents and document actions.
• Assist with client intake processes.
• Maintain logs andproperty logs and incident reports.
• Coordinate with police, fire department and responders as directed.
• Monitor CCTV and fire alarm systems.
• Support fire evacuation procedures when required.
