Job summary

Westhab Inc. is seeking a Safety Security Officer to help safeguard clients, staff, and the shelter facility in NYC. The role is full-time with 24-hour operations and mandated overtime. You will screen entrances, conduct rounds, document incidents and coordinate with emergency responders as needed.

Required are a NYS Security Guard License and a current 8-Hour Annual Certificate; CPI certification is a plus. Flexible shifts and weekend availability are essential to the position.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prior security experience is required.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and 8-Hour Annual Certificate.
• Fire Guard License for Shelters (F02) preferred.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime if necessary.

Responsibilities

• Inspect client rooms daily and escort clients to appointments.
• Monitor client behavior and enforce facility policies with courtesy.
• Control main entrance access using screening equipment to deter weapons.
• De-escalate crises and document interventions as required.
• Perform hourly rounds and respond to incidents throughout the site.
• Assist with client intake and property logging; manage storage timelines.
• Maintain logs, incident reports, and other required documentation.
• Coordinate with police and first responders as directed.
• Operate security desk, monitor video, and fire alarm systems.
• Support fire procedures, evacuations, and equipment safety.
