Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and results across the span of care. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, coach performance, manage staffing and budget responsibilities, and implement process improvements while upholding Meijer’s culture.

You will guide on onboarding, development and feedback, ensure safety and compliance, and partner to build a strong, inclusive team focused on delivering exceptional service and results.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development with coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support store staffing and leadership roles.
• Involved in candid discussions to ensure Meijer standards are upheld and growth opportunities exist.
• Accountability for area operations and financial results by overseeing execution of corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance throughout the store and manages overall condition and adherence to procedures.
• Supervises Team Leaders and Leads in assigning daily work and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
