Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team member engagement and coaching across the span of care. You will lead recognition, feedback, performance management and succession planning while directing Leads and Team Leaders and owning area operations and financials.

You will oversee onboarding, staffing pipelines and coaching discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth. This role emphasizes safety, process improvements and culture stewardship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members for clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information for decision making.
• Experience leading teams while ensuring safe, compliant store operations.
• Ability to foster inclusivity and diverse merchandising to meet community needs.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financials, including budget items in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store conditions.
• Directs Team Leaders to assign daily work and training needs.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
