Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Area Human Resources Director to lead HR across multiple operating units in the Midwest. You will partner with the Area President and local managers to align business objectives with employees through HR managers in the field, covering employee relations, labor relations, compensation, benefits, and talent development.

The role requires strategic insight, strong knowledge of employment law, and experience in negotiations and investigations, with travel about 50%.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in HR as Generalist or Manager covering all HR functions.
• PHR or SPHR certification.
• Strong business orientation.
• Experience supporting multiple operating locations.
• Knowledge of recruiting, selection and training processes.
• Knowledge of employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII).
• Experience handling investigations and employee relations issues.
• Ability to influence without formal authority.
• Knowledge of P&L statements and interpretation of financial results.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and administration of HR across divisions and units.
• Partner with Area President, General Managers, and local managers; supervise HR Managers in the field.
• Consult with management on HR-related issues and anticipate HR needs across the area.
• Travel approximately 50%.
