Job summary

Airgas, Inc. is hiring an Area Driver Trainer to lead driver safety, onboarding quality, and field readiness across the region. You will set training governance, mentor local trainers, and certify drivers while partnering with safety leaders on investigations.

The role requires managing large onboarding cohorts (75–100 drivers) and delivering high-quality instruction with a focus on safety standards and incident prevention. Travel ~70% within the region is expected.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class A CDL with Hazmat endorsement.
• DOT Medical Card and LPG trainer endorsement (KS/AR/MO).
• Bachelor's in Occupational Health & Safety or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years CMV management and 3+ years risk management.
• Expert in FMCSR (Title 49) and DOT CSA scoring; proficient in reading SDS.

Responsibilities

• Oversee onboarding for 75–100 drivers and evaluate local trainers.
• Roll out Driver Training Curriculum and Safety Manual; select and onboard local trainers.
• Coach safety standards (Smith System, GOAL, backing) and supervise evaluations.
• Lead final field check-rides and retraining to address skill gaps.
• Partner on accident investigations and DOT roadside inspection prep.
