Job summary

  • Appraise, assess, and document archival materials using established archival standards and best practices.

  • Improve collection organization, accessibility, metadata, and documentation frameworks.
  • Conduct condition assessments and support preservation and conservation initiatives for archival materials.
  • Assist with digital asset management planning and long-term preservation of digital collections.
  • Develop and maintain metadata, taxonomy, collection management policies, processing guidelines, and archival documentation.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to evaluate collection management tools, workflows, and archival technologies.
  • Support archival projects, exhibitions, and collection protection initiatives as needed.
  • Develop and deliver guidance on archival best practices, collection management systems, and preservation procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records while ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility across collections.

Title: Archivist

Location: Beaverton, OR

Duration: 10 months (08/03/2026 – 05/30/2027)

Pay Range: $53-58/hr. on W2

Job Description:

Support the stewardship, preservation, organization, and accessibility of physical and digital archival collections. Work closely with cross-functional partners to manage collection processing, preservation planning, data governance, metadata standards, and archival documentation while ensuring collections are maintained according to professional archival best practices.

This role supports the preservation of historical, product, and corporate collections through collection management, digital asset support, and policy development. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in archives, museums, records management, or special collections.

Job Functions:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of archival standards, collection management, and preservation best practices.
  • Experience with archival databases, collection management systems, and digital asset management tools.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, documentation, and project management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to lift and move archival materials up to 30 pounds and work in archival storage environments that may contain dust or other allergens.

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in archives, records management, museums, special collections, or a related environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Archival Studies, Library Science, History, Museum Studies, Information Science, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience managing both physical and digital collections.
  • Experience with collection management systems and digital asset management platforms; MuseumPlus preferred.
  • Experience developing archival policies, procedures, and metadata standards preferred.
