Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Data Governance, Information Governance, Records Management, Compliance, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience implementing enterprise data retention programs.
  • Experience with Records Information Management (RIM) and Records of Processing Activities (ROPA).
  • Experience performing compliance assessments and remediation planning.
  • Professional certifications such as IGP, CRM, CIP, CDMP, or DGSP are preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline preferred.

Our client, a leading financial services organization, is seeking a Data Retention Implementation Specialist to support enterprise data governance, records management, and regulatory compliance initiatives.

Title: Data Retention Implementation Specialist

Duration: 1 year (08/24/2026 – 08/27/2027)

Pay Range: $98-103/hr. on W2

Job Description

Support enterprise data retention and information governance initiatives by implementing and enhancing data retention processes across applications and business units. This role focuses on analyzing retention assessments, identifying compliance gaps, developing remediation plans, and ensuring adherence to corporate policies and regulatory requirements. You'll partner closely with Governance, Compliance, Privacy, Legal, and Technology teams to improve data lifecycle management and strengthen enterprise records management practices. This role is ideal for a senior Data Governance, Records Management, or Information Governance professional with hands‑on experience in Records Information Management (RIM), Records of Processing Activities (ROPA), and enterprise data retention programs.

Job Functions

  • Execute data retention implementation and remediation activities across enterprise applications.
  • Analyze retention assessments and application-provided documentation to ensure compliance with corporate standards.
  • Identify data retention gaps, risks, and non-compliance issues across business and technology environments.
  • Partner with application teams to develop and implement remediation plans that address retention deficiencies.
  • Support Records Information Management (RIM) and Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) initiatives.
  • Monitor data lifecycle processes and validate adherence to retention schedules and governance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Privacy, Governance, and Technology stakeholders to align retention strategies.
  • Provide recommendations to improve data retention controls, governance processes, and risk mitigation efforts.
  • Support audit readiness activities through documentation, reporting, and evidence collection.
  • Document retention requirements, remediation actions, governance decisions, and operational procedures.

Skills/Abilities

  • Strong understanding of data retention regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Expertise in data governance frameworks, records management, and information governance principles.
  • Knowledge of data lifecycle management and retention policy implementation.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify gaps and develop effective remediation strategies.
  • Experience assessing compliance risks and recommending governance improvements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across business and technical teams.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Mandatory experience with Records Information Management (RIM) and Records of Processing Activities (ROPA).

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Information Governance, Records Management, Compliance, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing enterprise data retention programs.
  • Experience with Records Information Management (RIM) and Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) is required.
  • Experience performing compliance assessments and remediation planning.
  • Experience supporting audit, risk management, or regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Experience working within large enterprise environments preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as IGP, CRM, CIP, CDMP, or DGSP are highly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Management, Business, Technology, Compliance, or a related discipline preferred.
