Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company offers an Arborist Trainee Internship at our Charlottesville, VA location, with on-site field work beginning Spring-Summer 2027. Intern will work 40-50 hours per week, Monday-Friday with some Saturdays, earning $22-$23 per hour.

Interns gain hands-on experience alongside experienced Arborists, with comprehensive safety training and opportunities for growth within Davey’s four service lines across the country.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Arboriculture or related field.
• Driver’s license required; CDL a plus.
• Interest in outdoor work and arboriculture.

Responsibilities

• Assist Arborists in pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance.
• Participate in tree and landscape installation.
• Operate equipment safely, including chainsaws and chippers.
• Help with Plant Health Care activities.
• Support client service and field operations.
• Learn daily operations of a residential tree care office.
