Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship in Charlottesville, VA. This field-based program runs Spring-Summer 2027, with 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday and some Saturdays. You will work alongside experienced Arborists and Plant Health Care professionals to gain hands-on experience.

Salary ranges from $22 to $23 per hour. Applicants must be studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, or related fields and hold a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in arboriculture or related field.
• Must have enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture.
• Disposition to learn in a field-based internship.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance.
• Assist with tree and landscape installation.
• Operate equipment safely (chainsaws, chippers, etc.).
• Support plant health care activities including root fertilization and soil care.
