Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company invites applications for an Arborist Trainee Internship based in Charleston, WV. Begin Spring–Summer 2027, field-based with hands-on learning alongside seasoned Arborists, Climbers and Plant Health Care technicians.

Enjoy company support and a pathway to growth in a nationwide tree-care organization. Hours are 40–50 per week, Monday–Friday with some Saturdays; pay is $22–$23 per hour.

Qualifications

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
• Driver’s license required; CDL a plus
• Enthusiasm for proper plant care and arboriculture
• Willingness to learn and report regularly to work

Responsibilities

• Learn tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance
• Assist with Tree & Landscape Installation
• Safe operation of equipment including chainsaws and chippers
• Gain knowledge in Plant Health Care and soil care
• Support daily field operations and client service
• Develop sales, management and leadership fundamentals
