Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Chantilly, VA is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship beginning Spring-Summer 2027. This field-based internship provides hands-on experience alongside experienced Arborists and landscape professionals, including safety training and exposure to plant health care and company operations.

Interns gain practical skills in tree care, installation, and client service with paid hours and potential for career development across Davey’s service lines.

Qualifications

• Studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline
• Driver’s license required. Commercial driver’s license a plus

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor and develop skills in pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance
• Assist in Tree & Landscape Installation and safe operation of equipment such as chainsaws, chippers, and other field tools
• Support Plant Health Care activities including deep root fertilization, soil care and integrated pest and disease management
• Assist in daily operations of a residential tree care office and learn client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals
• Work 40-50 hours per week, Monday through Friday with some Saturdays
