Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking an Arborist Trainee Intern in Needham, MA. This field-based internship runs Spring–Summer 2027 and offers hands-on experience working with seasoned Arborists, Climbers, and Plant Health Care professionals.

You will participate in pruning, installation, plant health care and safety practices while gaining exposure to the operations of a residential tree care office. CDL may be a plus, and a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related discipline.
• Driver’s license required; CDL a plus.

Responsibilities

• Learn to be a tree doctor by working with arborists and landscape professionals to deliver client service and maintain tree health.
• Tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing and maintenance.
• Tree and landscape installation.
• Safe operation of equipment such as chainsaws and chippers.
• Plant Health Care including deep root fertilization and pest management.
• Exposure to daily operations and business components of a Residential Tree Care office.
• Develop client service, sales, management and leadership fundamentals.
