Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Needham, MA is offering an Arborist Trainee Internship. This on-site internship runs Spring–Summer 2027, with a 40–50 hour work week and hourly pay of $22–$23.

Interns gain hands-on experience alongside seasoned arborists, climbers, and plant health care technicians while building foundational skills in tree care and client service. Applicants should be pursuing related studies, hold a valid driver’s license, and be prepared for field work and safety training.

Qualifications

• Pursuing studies in Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Natural Resources, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry or related field.
• Driver’s license is required; CDL is a plus.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for plant care and arboriculture.
• Reliable and punctual attendance with good collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist arborists in field tasks and learn Davey’s career pathways.
• Perform tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance.
• Assist in tree and landscape installation.
• Operate field equipment safely (chainsaws, chippers, etc.).
• Support plant health care activities and site maintenance.
• Develop client service and basic sales and leadership skills.
