Job summary

SimVentions, Inc is seeking an Applied Mathematician or Applied Physicist to join the NSWCDD SLBM team at NSWC Dahlgren, VA. You will design and execute automated and manual tests, connect tests to requirements, and collaborate with developers and government customers to resolve defects.

The ideal candidate has a BS in applied math/physics and 1+ years in software testing, with Linux proficiency and experience in test automation. U.S. citizenship and on-site work at Dahlgren are required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional applied mathematics or applied physics experience in engineering projects.
  • 1+ years of software/systems testing experience or equivalent education; may be concurrent with applied math/physics.
  • Familiarity reviewing C++ code.
  • Experience using Linux systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to find, document, and help resolve complex software issues.
  • Experience linking requirements to test cases and managing test artifacts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to customers.
  • Strong teamwork and the ability to manage multiple tasks with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks.
  • Write detailed test plans, test descriptions, and test cases tied to requirements.
  • Execute manual and automated testing (static, dynamic, integration, and system-level).
  • Perform requirements traceability using DOORS, Jira, and other tools.
  • Identify, document, and track software defects; collaborate with developers for rapid resolution.
  • Review peers’ test documentation and provide constructive feedback.
  • Participate in Agile Sprint meetings and CCB activities.
  • Interface directly with government customers daily.
  • Occasionally present technical testing documentation.
