Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an engineer to turn undefined business needs into working software with a hands-on, client-facing role. You’ll refine requirements with stakeholders, design technical solutions, and produce production-quality AI-enabled applications.

You will explore better approaches, document work, and help customers understand how AI can transform their business challenges. This role spans client delivery, internal product development, rapid proofs of concept, and enablement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience building applications that integrate LLMs and include prompt engineering, retrieval augmentation, structured extraction, and/or tool use.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities with APIs, data handling, and user-facing functionality.
• Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, or SQL; API integration; and handling imperfect data.

Responsibilities

• Take a defined technical approach and build production-quality functionality.
• Participate in requirements discussions with business stakeholders to understand workflow and desired outcomes.
• Contribute ideas to solution design, including simplification or reducing AI components where appropriate.
• Build applications that integrate AI capabilities with prompts, retrieval design, APIs, data handling and user-facing features.
• Create evaluation sets, measure results, and report findings including negative results.
• Investigate failures and implement fixes.
• Support demonstrations and proofs-of-concept for clients.
• Document work with logging, traceability, and failure handling.
• Move between client delivery, internal product work, POCs, and enablement as needed.
