Groundswell is seeking an engineer who can translate an incompletely defined business need into working software. This hands‑on, client‑facing role works directly with business stakeholders to refine requirements and build AI‑enabled solutions spanning client delivery, internal product work, and rapid proofs of concept.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent demonstrated ability.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience.
• Hands‑on experience building applications that integrate large language models, including prompt engineering, retrieval‑augmented generation, structured extraction, and/or tool use.
• Experience contributing to applications that integrate AI capabilities with APIs, data handling, and user‑facing functionality
• Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, or SQL, with API integration and data handling.
• Ability to conduct requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders and propose approaches.
• Willingness to question designs and propose alternatives.
• Ability to work through ambiguous requirements with guidance and drive to completion.
• Clear written and verbal communication; readiness to document work.

Responsibilities

• Take defined technical approaches and implement production‑quality functionality.
• Participate in requirements discussions with business stakeholders to understand workflow and outcomes.
• Contribute to solution design, identifying simplifications or AI‑reductions where appropriate.
• Build complete applications that integrate AI capabilities with prompts, retrieval, APIs, data handling, and UI features.
• Create evaluation sets from real data, measure results, and report findings honestly.
• Investigate failures and implement fixes; support demonstrations and proofs‑of‑concept.
